When Intimacy carries us...
Intimacy is characterized by what is strictly personal (e.g.: tastes, urges, desires, fears, etc.) and refers to the inner feeling.
Intimacy is precious. It allows us to feel good, fulfilled and safe when shared in a relationship. It allows the sharing of feelings and emotions, and to reveal oneself to one another by acts or words. When you share something private with someone, you may feel very close to them. However, it is important to be able to set up one's own boundaries and to consider those of the other person, which will certainly be different from ours.
When intimacy derails...
Sharing one's intimacy has its share of risks. Whether in a romantic relationship or via social networks, for example, we unfortunately never know what the other person could do in the present or in the future with secrets, photos and/or videos that have been shared. Indeed, everyone has the right to maintain their image and privacy and not respecting these rights can have serious consequences (psychological, social and legal).
It should be remembered that one of the key elements in a healthy intimate relationship is respect for the boundaries of both people and consent. Before doing anything sexual, we must ensure that the other person is consenting, by monitoring, among other things, their verbal and non-verbal language. A person may have consented at one time and not another. They may have consented to certain actions and not others. They may change their mind at any time. That is their right.
General objectives:
- Initiate constructive discussions with the young people to differentiate between the elements of an intimate relationship "that carries us" and those of an intimate relationship "that derails".
- Promote authenticity, integrity, and respect in an intimate relationship with another person.
- Recognize the possible pitfalls of sharing one's intimacy on the Internet and social networks.
